Matatiele-The deputy principal of Azariel S.S.S,Mzukisi Mzinyathi, appeared before the Matatiele Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, where his case involving alleged drunken driving was postponed.
Mzinyathi appeared alongside his co-accused, Zuko Mzinyelwa, following a fatal car accident that occurred on Sunday evening at Hlomendlini.
According to reports, Mzinyathi is charged with drunken driving after the crash in which his wife lost her life at the scene, leaving family, colleagues and community members in mourning.
Both accused were granted bail of R1 000 each under strict conditions. The court ordered that they remain at their current places of residence in Maluti and Mount Fletcher until the matter is finalised. They were further instructed not to drive while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, interfere with witnesses, defeat the ends of justice, or visit liquor outlets while the case is still before court.
The matter was postponed to 29 July 2026 for further investigation.
