The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has set aside 5 November 2026 for beneficiaries whose social grants are currently under review, as part of changes to its payment schedule ahead of the local government elections.
The revised timetable also brings forward payments for other grant categories, with older persons scheduled to receive their grants on 30 October, disability grant beneficiaries on 2 November and children’s grant recipients on 3 November.
SASSA said the changes follow consultations with stakeholders and approval from National Treasury. The revised arrangements are intended to minimise possible disruptions and ensure the orderly distribution of social assistance during the election period.
The agency has urged beneficiaries to familiarise themselves with the new dates and avoid unnecessary trips to SASSA offices, saying payments will be processed according to the announced schedule.
