Ramaphosa accepts IDAC head Andrea Johnson’s immediate resignation

President Cyril Ramaphosa has accepted the request by Advocate Andrea Johnson to vacate her position as head of the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC) with immediate effect.

The Presidency said the decision was made in terms of Section 12(8)(a) of the National Prosecuting Authority Act, 1998, following a recommendation by Justice and Constitutional Development Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi, which was supported by National Director of Public Prosecutions Advocate Andy Mothibi.

Johnson submitted her request for an immediate release from office to both the President and the National Director of Public Prosecutions.

In a statement, President Ramaphosa thanked Johnson for her years of service in the National Prosecuting Authority and for leading IDAC. He also reaffirmed government’s unwavering support for the NPA and its continued efforts to combat crime and corruption.
