A police sergeant allegedly shot and killed his wife before taking his own life following a domestic dispute in Parsonsvlei, Gqeberha, shortly after midnight on 18 July 2026.
The victims, a 34-year-old female sergeant from Mount Road SAPS and her 44-year-old husband, a sergeant at New Brighton SAPS, were found dead with gunshot wounds at their home.
The firearm believed to have been used has been recovered, and police are investigating the incident. Two minors who were in the house at the time are receiving counselling through the SAPS Employee Health and Wellness Programme.
SAPS condemned the tragedy and urged members experiencing emotional distress to seek professional help.
