The Eastern Cape Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA) has expressed condolences following the death of Eastern Cape House of Traditional and Khoisan Leaders chairperson Nkosi Mpumalanga Gwadiso.
CoGTA MEC Zolile Williams described Gwadiso’s passing as unexpected, saying he had been recovering well from a broken leg. He praised the late traditional leader’s commitment to traditional governance, community development, agriculture and the fight against Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF).
“Nkosi Gwadiso is known for his visionary leadership style, firmly rooted in community consultation,” Williams said.
Meanwhile, the North West Provincial Legislature is mourning the passing of EFF MPL Primrose Bogatsu.
Speaker Dr Desbo Mohono said Bogatsu served the people of North West with dedication and that her contribution to the Legislature would be remembered.
A memorial sitting in her honour will be held on 22 July, while funeral arrangements for both leaders are yet to be announced.
