Ngizwe Mchunu breaks silence after March and March suspension

Former Ukhozi FM presenter and anti-migrant activist Ngizwe Mchunu has broken his silence after the March and March movement suspended its working relationship with him pending an internal investigation into allegations that he attempted to weaken the organisation.

In a video released on Monday, Mchunu dismissed the suspension, arguing that the movement had already achieved its objectives after organising more than 1,000 marches across South Africa.

“We can’t march forever,” Mchunu said, adding that the campaign against undocumented migrants had reached a point where continued nationwide demonstrations were no longer necessary. He also insisted that the movement never intended to damage the country’s economy through its protests.

Mchunu further criticised March and March leader Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma and activist Nkosikhona Ndabandaba, claiming they lacked the experience required to lead the organisation.

The movement announced the suspension following what it described as an internal investigation into alleged interference by political figures and business interests.

According to spokesperson Sandile Dube, the investigation uncovered evidence of alleged attempts to destabilise the organisation, including claims that gratification had been offered and accepted to undermine the movement’s mission.

As a result, the organisation resolved to suspend its working relationship with Mchunu while further investigations continue.
