Members of the South African Police Service stationed at Ekulindeni arrested a 45-year-old foreign national after allegedly finding dagga worth more than R240 000 in his vehicle during an intelligence-driven operation.
The arrest was made on Saturday, 16 May 2026, at about 20:35, following information that the suspect was allegedly transporting dagga from Steynsdorp to Johannesburg via Elukwatini in a Nissan NP200 with Mpumalanga registration plates.
Police conducted an operational stop-and-search and intercepted a vehicle matching the description provided.
During the search, officers recovered approximately 33.067 kilograms of dagga with an estimated street value exceeding R240 000.
The suspect was immediately arrested and charged with dealing in dagga.
He is expected to appear before the Elukwatini Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 18 May 2026.
Police said the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to combat drug-related crimes and ensure safer communities through intelligence-led policing and cooperation with the public.
