Man arrested with suspected stolen cow meat in North West police operation

A 37-year-old man has been arrested after police allegedly found a large quantity of suspected stolen cow meat hidden under a blanket in the boot of his vehicle during a late-night operation in North West.

The arrest was made at about 23:00 on Tuesday, 30 June 2026, when Pudimoe SAPS members stopped and searched a blue Toyota Conquest at a vehicle checkpoint on the N18 near Dry Harts Village as part of a high-density crime-fighting operation.

The suspect is expected to appear before the Taung Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 2 July 2026, on a charge of possession of suspected stolen meat.

Acting North West Provincial Commissioner, Major General (Dr) Ryno Naidoo, praised the officers for their vigilance, while police continue investigating the origin of the meat and whether the suspect is linked to stock theft cases.
