ECDoH and Doctors Without Borders to launch a collaborative non-communicable disease project

The Eastern Cape Department of Health and Doctors Without Borders will launch a joint project that aims to improve and expand care and services for people with chronic diseases in Butterworth on Thursday.

The World Health Organisation estimates that about 41-million people die every year from non-communicable diseases, with those from developing countries accounting for 71% of deaths, globally as a result of non-communicable diseases.

WHO further estimates that without prevention, 52-million people will die from non-communicable diseases by 2030.

The department says it is committed to addressing non-communicable diseases. Over and above departmental programmes to address NCDs, like diabetes and hypertension.
