Godongwana allocates R810 million for SAPS vehicles

Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana has announced R810 million to recapitalise the SAPS vehicle fleet next year, alongside an additional R2.2 billion over the medium term to strengthen judicial independence.

Delivering the Medium-Term Budget Policy Statement on Wednesday, Godongwana said crime and corruption undermine economic growth and divert funds meant for service delivery.

Government is also increasing the number of labour inspectors and considering measures to strengthen border enforcement and address illegal migration.

Godongwana further highlighted South Africa’s ongoing Financial Action Task Force evaluation, aimed at assessing compliance with international standards to combat money laundering and terrorist financing.

South Africa was removed from the FATF grey list in October 2025, marking progress in efforts to strengthen the country’s financial integrity.
