Major General Feroz Khan has been dismissed from the South African Police Service after failing to appear before a senior officer appointed to deal with disciplinary proceedings against him.
SAPS confirmed that Khan was deemed dismissed in terms of Regulation 9(7)(b) of the SAPS Discipline Regulations.
The regulation provides the basis for the dismissal following his failure to appear before the designated senior officer responsible for handling the expeditious disciplinary process.
The development comes against the backdrop of legal proceedings involving Khan, with SAPS stressing that it will continue to comply with any court decisions relating to the matter.
The police service said the action demonstrates that disciplinary rules apply to all members, regardless of their rank or position.
“SAPS reiterates its commitment to accountability, discipline and professional conduct within the organisation,” the service said.
The organisation emphasised that no member is above the law or the disciplinary framework governing the police service.
