The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has postponed Mamelodi Sundowns’ opening 2026/27 Betway Premiership fixture following the death of midfielder Jaden Adams.
The defending champions were due to face Marumo Gallants at Loftus Versfeld on 1 August, but the match has been rescheduled to 19 August at 7:30pm.
Sundowns requested the postponement after their pre-season preparations were disrupted as the club delayed its trip to Austria to mourn Adams and attend his memorial service.
The PSL approved the request, citing the exceptional circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
With the league opener delayed, Miguel Cardoso’s side is now expected to begin its domestic campaign against Polokwane City in the MTN8 quarter-final on 8 August before returning to league action later in the month.
