Mamelodi Sundowns have suffered a major setback ahead of their crucial CAF Champions League final clash after travel complications delayed the team’s departure to Morocco.
The Brazilians were scheduled to leave from OR Tambo International Airport, but were unable to board their flight due to issues relating to a landing permit in Morocco.
The unexpected delay disrupted the club’s travel plans and forced the team to miss a scheduled training session as preparations intensify for the final leg of the 2025/26 CAF Champions League.
Despite the setback, Sundowns remain hopeful that the permit issue will be resolved within 24 hours, allowing the squad to depart on Wednesday.
The Pretoria giants are preparing for a high-stakes showdown against AS FAR on 24 May 2026 at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat.
The delay comes at a critical stage of the competition, with every training session considered vital as Sundowns chase continental glory.
Club officials are reportedly confident the disruption will not significantly impact the squad’s readiness for the final, although concerns remain over the effect the travel chaos could have on the team’s preparations.
