The owner of Tyeks Security Services has been arrested.
The businessman was attending a traditional ceremony in Zimbane on 18 July 2026. According to reports, an altercation broke out among people attending the event.
It is alleged that he drew a firearm and fired a shot into the air. Tragically, a woman attending the ceremony was struck by the bullet.
He was arrested by members of the Mthatha Central SAPS and remains in police custody. He is expected to appear in the Mthatha Magistrate’s Court.
He faces charges of attempted murder and the reckless or negligent discharge of a firearm in a public place.
