The South African Police Service in the Western Cape has launched urgent investigations into two separate shooting incidents in Makhaza and Endlovini, Harare, which left six men dead within hours of each other.
In the first incident, three young men aged between 20 and 24 were shot and killed inside an informal dwelling in Khonkxa Street, Makhaza, on Sunday evening, 24 May 2026, at around 19:30. Family members reportedly rushed to the scene after hearing gunshots, only to discover the victims with fatal gunshot wounds inside the structure.
In a second and separate incident, three adult men in their thirties were shot at a shebeen in Endlovini in the early hours of Monday morning, 25 May 2026, at approximately 01:38. The victims were rushed to a medical facility but later succumbed to their injuries.
In both cases, the suspects fled the scenes and remain at large. The motive for the attacks is still unknown, deepening concern in the affected communities.
Police management has condemned the violence and assured residents that all available resources are being deployed to track down those responsible. A specialised team of detectives from the Serious and Violent Crimes Unit has been assigned to the cases, with intensified patrols and operations underway to stabilise the area and prevent further bloodshed.
