The South African Police Service (SAPS) has confirmed that Lieutenant General Shadrack Sibiya is no longer an employee of the organisation, with his employment terminating on Monday, 12 October 2026.
According to SAPS, a disciplinary hearing involving Sibiya convened on Monday morning. Shortly after the proceedings commenced, his legal representative submitted his resignation.
The police service stated that because Sibiya resigned while facing an ongoing disciplinary process, his exit from the organisation is regarded as a dishonourable discharge.
SAPS further confirmed that his employment has been terminated with immediate effect, bringing an end to his tenure with the service.
The development follows disciplinary proceedings that had been instituted against the former senior police officer. SAPS has not provided further details regarding the nature of the disciplinary case.
In a statement, the police service reiterated that Sibiya is no longer employed by SAPS and that his departure took effect immediately following the resignation tendered during the hearing.
