Nine people have died following a tragic collision between a taxi and a truck on the R500 in the early hours of this morning.
According to preliminary reports, the taxi was travelling from Potchefstroom towards Parys when the accident occurred.
Seven men, one woman and a child believed to be between the ages of 10 and 14 were certified dead at the scene.
Officials from the Department of Community Safety and Transport Management, together with law enforcement officers, are currently at the scene managing traffic and investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Motorists have been urged to drive with caution when approaching the area.
