The Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court is expected to deliver judgment today on the bail application of the ‘Political fixer’ Brown Mogotsi.
Mogotsi, who has been in custody for more than three weeks, is facing multiple charges, including unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, discharging a firearm in a public space, perjury, and defeating the ends of justice.
The case stems from an alleged staged assassination attempt in Vosloorus in November last year, during which Mogotsi’s Chevrolet vehicle was struck by several bullets.
During previous court proceedings, the State indicated that it was still verifying Mogotsi’s residential address as part of its opposition to bail.
The court reserved judgment following arguments from both the prosecution and defence. Thursday’s ruling will determine whether Mogotsi will be released on bail or remain behind bars while the case proceeds.
