Four killed, two critically injured in suspected taxi-related shooting in Nyanga

The South African Police Service is investigating a fatal shooting believed to be linked to the taxi industry after four men were shot and killed in Nyanga on Tuesday morning.

According to preliminary reports, the shooting occurred at approximately 08:30 at the corner of Moonwood Drive and Sheffield Road, where unknown suspects opened fire on a group of individuals.

Four adult men sustained fatal gunshot wounds and were declared dead at the scene. Their identities and ages have not yet been confirmed.

Two other men were injured during the attack and were rushed to hospital, where they remain in a critical condition.

The suspects fled the scene immediately after the shooting and have not yet been identified.

Provincial detectives attached to the Provincial SVC Taxi Unit have launched an intensive investigation and are pursuing all available leads to identify and arrest those responsible. Forensic experts have also been deployed to process the crime scene and collect evidence.

Additional police resources have been sent to the area to maintain stability and enhance security amid concerns that the incident may be linked to ongoing tensions within the taxi industry.

Police have not yet established a motive for the attack, and investigations are continuing.
