Cold weather to grip South Africa as cold front approaches

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) says cold-to-cool conditions will persist across much of the country this week as a surface high-pressure system dominates the central and eastern regions.

A cold front is expected to move south of the country on Thursday, bringing a slight chance of isolated showers over southern Gauteng and rain along the eastern and southern coastlines from Thursday to Saturday.

Most parts of the country will remain fine and cold to cool, while Monday’s forecast includes partly cloudy conditions with isolated showers along the KwaZulu-Natal north coast.

On Tuesday, fine weather is expected in the south-west, while isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers may develop elsewhere.

SAWS has urged the public to monitor official weather forecasts and warnings, warning against relying on unverified weather information.
