Chippa United set to bring PSL football back to Eastern Cape

Chippa United will return to its Eastern Cape home venues after the Premier Soccer League approved both Buffalo City Stadium in Qonce and Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha to host the club’s upcoming home fixtures.

The approval follows maintenance work and assessments of the playing surfaces at both stadiums, which were unavailable at the beginning of the season.

As a result, Chippa United was forced to stage its opening home matches outside the Eastern Cape.

The club will return to Buffalo City Stadium on 5 September 2026, when it hosts Milford FC at 15:00.

Chippa United will then return to Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on 12 September, where it will welcome reigning CAF African champions Mamelodi Sundowns.

The return of PSL football to the two venues is expected to be a major boost for football supporters across the province.

Chippa United thanked all stakeholders involved in preparing the stadiums and called on Eastern Cape residents to come out in numbers to support the team.

“Football is back in the Eastern Cape,” the club said.
