Chippa United have been forced to find a new venue for their Betway Premiership clash against Mamelodi Sundowns after Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium failed to meet the PSL’s required standards.
The match, scheduled for Saturday, 12 September 2026, will no longer take place at the Gqeberha venue following an inspection by the Premier Soccer League.
According to Chippa United, concerns were raised over the condition and maintenance of the playing surface, resulting in the stadium not being approved to host the fixture.
The club has since formally applied to the PSL to move the highly anticipated encounter to Buffalo City Stadium in Kungupo. However, the proposed relocation is still subject to approval.
The development is likely to cause frustration among supporters who have already purchased tickets or made arrangements to attend the match in Nelson Mandela Bay.
Chippa United apologised to affected supporters and said further details regarding the new venue and the validity of existing tickets would be announced once confirmation is received from the PSL.
