The inquest into the death of Anele Tembe has been postponed to 7 September 2026 due to the unavailability of the presiding magistrate.
The matter was expected to continue this week, but proceedings have now been delayed.
Meanwhile, new text messages have emerged ahead of the resumed inquest. One of the exchanges is between rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and a lawyer representing the Tembe family on the day of an earlier incident at the Hilton Hotel in Durban, where Anele allegedly threatened to jump from the building.
The messages are expected to form part of the evidence as the court continues to examine the circumstances surrounding Tembe’s death. The inquest seeks to determine the events leading up to her fatal fall from the Pepperclub Hotel in Cape Town in April 2021.
