SAPS members deployed across the OR Tambo District have assured communities of their operational readiness as South Africa holds its 2026 Local Government Elections.
The police said members remain prepared to respond to any situation and ensure the safety of communities in areas where they have been deployed.
SAPS emphasised that its responsibility is not influenced by political preferences or election outcomes, adding that its loyalty remains with the people of South Africa.
The police further stressed that their mandate to serve and protect without fear or favour would continue even after the elections.
“Regardless of who communities choose to lead them, our loyalty remains with the people of South Africa and our mandate to serve and protect without fear or favour,” SAPS said.
