South African football fans will discover the opening match-ups of the 2026 Carling Knockout Cup when the Round of 16 draw takes place on Wednesday evening.
The draw is scheduled for 19:00 on 14 October and will be broadcast live on SuperSport PSL Channel 202 and SABC 2.
All 16 Betway Premiership clubs will feature in the competition, with the draw set to determine their opponents as they begin their pursuit of the trophy.
Defending champions Orlando Pirates will be looking to retain their title after beating Marumo Gallants 1-0 in last season’s final. Yanela Mbuthuma scored the decisive goal in the 105th minute of extra time at Peter Mokaba Stadium.
The draw will also reveal the potential challenges facing other title contenders, including Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns, as clubs prepare for another knockout campaign.
Unlike league football, where teams have multiple opportunities to collect points, the Carling Knockout offers a direct route to silverware through single-match knockout ties. The competition is scheduled to run from 24 October to 9 December 2026.
The draw marks another important step towards the start of the competition, with the 16 clubs set to battle for one of South African football’s domestic cup honours.
