Former Eskom buyer Nozipho Ntuli, 39, and five others, together with three companies, have been convicted in an R8.5 million fraud and money laundering case.
The Middelburg Specialised Commercial Crimes Court handed down judgment on Tuesday, 18 August 2026, following a Hawks investigation.
Ntuli was found guilty of fraud after allegedly abusing her position between October 2016 and May 2019 to award Eskom tenders to companies linked to people close to her.
Phoenix Motion Enterprise, Hustle Hard Development and Itireleng Masheleng allegedly benefited R5.38 million, R2.23 million and R913,712 respectively, resulting in a total loss of R8.53 million to Eskom.
Edward George Sekatane, Thulani Harries Mahlalela and Alfred Lebogang Sekatane were convicted of money laundering offences under the Prevention of Organised Crime Act, while the three companies were also convicted.
The case has been postponed to 19 October 2026 for sentencing, while the Asset Forfeiture Unit will pursue a restraint order.
Hawks Mpumalanga head Major General Nico Gerber welcomed the convictions and commended the investigation team.
