President Cyril Ramaphosa’s attempt to stop Parliament’s Section 89 impeachment inquiry will come under the spotlight in the Western Cape High Court on Wednesday and Thursday.
The President is seeking an urgent court order to suspend the work of the parliamentary Impeachment Committee while his legal challenge is being considered.
The committee’s chairperson, Makashule Gana, has been cited as the second respondent and is expected to defend the committee’s decision to continue with the impeachment process.
The court’s ruling could have significant implications for the future of the Section 89 inquiry, determining whether the committee can proceed with its investigation
