NCC recalls selected SPAR yoghurt products over production fault

The National Consumer Commission (NCC) has announced the recall of selected SPAR yoghurt products after a production fault raised concerns over their safety.

According to the NCC, the recall affects selected SPAR Fat Free Yoghurt, Low Fat Yoghurt, Double Cream Yoghurt, Indulge Double Cream Yoghurt and SPAR Active Drinking Yoghurt products sold nationwide from 15 June 2026.

The affected products have a sell-by date of 9 August 2026 and a use-by date of 12 August 2026.

The commission said SPAR notified it that the recall was prompted by a machine malfunction during production, which resulted in product blowing. The defect may cause changes to the yoghurt’s taste, smell and appearance, and consumers who consume the affected products could experience stomach upset.

The NCC has urged consumers not to consume any of the affected products and to return them to their nearest SPAR store for a full refund or exchange.

The commission also encouraged consumers to respond promptly to product safety recalls to help protect public health.
