Acting OR Tambo District Commissioner, Brigadier Vukile Ntuli, has strongly condemned the fatal shooting of two women aged 44 and 65 in a violent incident that occurred at Gebane locality, Zinkumbini A/A, on Monday, 25 May 2026, at about 16H00.
According to reports, the 44-year-old woman was returning home from work where she was employed as a security guard at a local school when she encountered two unknown men. One of the suspects allegedly opened fire on her, prompting her to flee towards a nearby homestead.
The victim sought refuge at the home of a 65-year-old elderly woman, however the armed suspect reportedly continued shooting at both women. Both victims sustained fatal injuries and were declared dead at the scene.
Police have since launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the double murder, and no arrests have been made at this stage.
