At least 35 people have been injured after a bus overturned on the R56 near Richmond in KwaZulu-Natal early on Monday morning.
ALS Paramedics from the Cato Ridge operation were dispatched to the scene shortly before 6am, just after Mkhuzane Primary School.
On arrival, emergency personnel found the bus lying on its side after it had reportedly left the roadway. Several people were injured, with the severity of their injuries ranging from minor to critical.
A triage area was established as paramedics assessed and treated the casualties. Multiple ambulances were deployed to assist at the scene.
Once stabilised, the injured were transported to various hospitals for further medical treatment.
The circumstances surrounding the crash are not yet known.
Members of the South African Police Service were at the scene and will investigate the cause of the accident.
