Police in KwaZulu-Natal have opened three murder cases following a deadly ambush at a pharmacy in KwaNyuswa, Hillcrest.
The family of slain pharmacist Nomzila Madinane says the 27-year-old had allegedly received threats against her life before she was murdered — reportedly by a former partner.
Nomzila was shot dead alongside her cashier, Melissa Sbanda, after armed gunmen stormed her newly opened pharmacy on Tuesday. A third victim was also killed during the attack.
Speaking to Newzroom Afrika, family members revealed that Nomzila had previously survived another violent incident at her first pharmacy and had allegedly been threatened multiple times by her ex-boyfriend.
According to her family, she had also obtained a protection order against him amid growing fears for her safety.
