The South African Weather Service has warned of severe weather conditions expected across the Western and Northern Cape from Sunday, 10 May to Tuesday, 12 May 2026.
The intense cold front is expected to bring heavy rainfall, strong to gale-force winds, rough seas, very cold temperatures and possible snowfall in some areas.
Rainfall of between 100 and 200 mm is expected in parts of the Western Cape, including the City of Cape Town, Cape Winelands and Overberg, raising concerns over flooding, mudslides and damage to infrastructure.
The weather service has issued several orange and yellow level warnings for disruptive rainfall, damaging winds, rough seas and snowfall across affected regions.
Authorities have urged residents to remain cautious, avoid flooded roads and stay updated on weather alerts.
