Matatiele Police have arrested a 35 year old man accusing him of murdering his lover on Thursday morning at Masakala Location in Matatiele in Eastern Cape. According to reports the incident started with quarrel between the two lovers at their place of residence in the same location.
The deceased who cannot be mentioned at the moment till her family is notified ran to her cousin ‘s homestead in the middle of the quarrel a distance away from their residence. On arrival she told her cousins about the quarrel and requested a hiding place and told them not to tell her lover that she is there.
Indeed she went to one of the rooms and hid under the bed. When the boyfriend reached the cousins homestead as he was following the girlfriend she asked for his girlfriend. The cousins tried to dismiss him saying that they did not see her.
It is said that he drew a gun and shot in the air telling them that he is going to kill all of them if they don’t give him the lovers where about. Out of fear the cousins showed him where the lover was hiding. He went to the room and forcefully pulled her out of the room where she was hiding shooting her a number of times and ran our away. She died on the scene.
She took three cell phones belonging to the cousins and ran away with them in a way preventing them from calling police. He also ran away with two young girls a 15 and a 9 year old to a nearby forest and released them in the morning. According to reports police discovered three empty cartridges on the scene. The suspect was arrested by police in the nearby hill. He was arrested with a gun that he used to kill his lover. He is going to appear before court next week.
