A 23-year-old alleged gangster is expected to appear in the Boksburg Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday in connection with the murders of two SAPS Anti-Gang Unit members and two civilian women.
The suspect faces two counts of murder and a charge of possessing unlicensed firearms.
His arrest followed a multidisciplinary operation in Germiston over the weekend, during which police recovered two R5 rifles at the KwaDukathole Informal Settlement.
The operation involved the DPCI’s Serious Organised Crime Investigation, Gauteng Crime Intelligence, the Provincial Tracking Team, Tactical Response Team, Anti-Gang Unit and PRASA.
Police allege the suspect was involved in the killings of Constables Tlomatsana and Sibeko, as well as the two civilian victims.
The suspect was out on bail when he was arrested and already had several pending cases, including two counts of murder, two counts of attempted murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm.
Investigations are continuing, with police pursuing other people who may have been involved. Further arrests have not been ruled out.
