MEC Xolile Nqatha condemns Walmer quadruple murder

A brutal quadruple murder in Walmer has drawn strong condemnation from Transport and Community Safety MEC Xolile Nqatha, who has called for swift action as police intensify their investigation.

The incident unfolded in the early hours of 17 April 2026, when police were dispatched at around 00:34 following reports of a shooting via Radio Control. Officers responded to a residence on Ndlovu Street, Airport Valley, Walmer, where they were met by a complainant outside the property who directed them to a shack on the premises.

Inside, police made a grim discovery — the bodies of four victims, all of whom had been shot and killed. The deceased include two brothers aged 20 and 22, a 19-year-old woman, and a 17-year-old girl.

Authorities have since launched a manhunt for the suspects, with police vowing to pursue all leads and ensure those responsible are brought to justice.

MEC Nqatha described the killings as “heinous” and urged residents to work closely with law enforcement. He stressed that community cooperation is critical in strengthening efforts to combat violent crime in the Nelson Mandela District, saying joint action between the public and police remains key to restoring safety in affected communities.
