The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party has relieved Secretary-General Sibonelo Nomvalo of his duties, citing concerns over internal party administration, councillor selection and communication within its leadership structures.
In a statement issued on Thursday, 22 October 2026, the party said the decision followed concerns about internal factionalism, alleged dual remuneration, campaign material delays and changes within the parliamentary caucus that were reportedly not communicated to senior leadership.
Lindiwe Mtshali has been appointed Acting Secretary-General and will work with National Chairperson Mxolisi Phakathi to ensure continuity in party operations.
National spokesperson Sifiso Mahlangu will also assume additional responsibilities associated with the office of Deputy Secretary-General while retaining his spokesperson position.
The party called on its structures to cooperate with the new leadership arrangements and reaffirmed its commitment to unity, discipline and accountability.
