Cat Matlala’s property fraud case postponed to 29 October

The property fraud case involving businessman Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala will return to the Pretoria Specialised Commercial Crimes Court on 29 October for further investigations after he abandoned his bail application.

Matlala is accused of using a fraudulent identity document and falsified bank statements to secure a lease for a property in Waterkloof, Pretoria.

His decision to abandon the bail application comes as the case against him and his co-accused continues through the courts.

Matlala’s wife, Tsakane Matlala, and two other accused have been granted bail of R20,000 each.

The allegations against Matlala relate to the alleged use of fraudulent documents to obtain the property lease. The case remains under investigation, with further proceedings expected when the matter returns to court later this month.
