The ANC in KwaZulu-Natal is set to confront internal disputes over councillor candidate lists as it assesses its readiness for the upcoming local government elections.
The party’s Provincial Task Team (PTT) is expected to brief the media on Thursday, following a special leadership meeting and assessments of ANC structures across all 11 regions in the province.
ANC KZN spokesperson Sifiso Sonjica said the party had been reviewing its branch mobilisation efforts and the finalisation of candidate lists submitted to the Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC).
The briefing is expected to shed light on how the ANC plans to resolve disputes over candidate selection, strengthen discipline within its ranks and address operational challenges ahead of the November 4 elections.
The party has said it wants to field candidates who are credible, accountable and have strong support within their communities.
Campaign preparations will also come under the spotlight, with the ANC working to organise branch executive committees and volunteer teams for door-to-door campaigning and voter engagement.
The party says its campaign will focus on listening to community concerns, improving service delivery and creating local employment opportunities.
