Four men have been arrested in separate police operations in Qumbu and Ngqeleni, OR Tambo District, with a suspected stolen vehicle, firearms and ammunition recovered.
A 46-year-old man and his 26-year-old associate were arrested in Qumbu CBD on Tuesday after police acted on intelligence about wanted suspects. They were allegedly found in possession of a Toyota double-cab linked to a theft case reported at Parow SAPS in the Western Cape in April.
In Ngqeleni, two men aged 40 and 42 were arrested at their homes in Mzonyane Locality shortly after midnight on Wednesday. Police allegedly found prohibited firearms and five rounds of ammunition in their possession.
OR Tambo District Commissioner Major General Norman Modishana welcomed the arrests, saying intelligence-driven operations were important in recovering stolen property and removing illegal firearms from communities.
The suspects are expected to appear in their respective Magistrates’ Courts.
