Parliament has disputed claims by National Coloured Congress MP Fadiel Adams that persistent problems with his parliamentary laptop affected his ability to access correspondence from the Madlanga Commission.
Adams told the Commission that his laptop had been problematic for about 18 months and was frequently frozen or sent for repairs.
However, Parliament said its ICT Service Desk records do not show any reports of persistent laptop malfunction, hardware failure or repeated repairs during the period.
The records instead reflect routine issues, including password resets, login assistance, a Wi-Fi update and an eDisclosure-related request.
Parliament also said MPs are provided with multiple devices, including laptops, tablets and smartphones, to ensure continued access to parliamentary resources.
The institution stressed that its clarification is based solely on its ICT records and does not comment on the substance of Adams’ testimony, which remains for the Commission to consider.
