South Africa’s U17 Women’s National Team, Bantwana, have been knocked out of the 2026 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers after losing 3-1 to Kenya in Nairobi on Sunday, ending the tie 5-1 on aggregate.
Captain Katlego Malebana gave South Africa an early lead, but Kenya fought back through Gaudancia Maloba, Brenda Awour and Elizabeth Opiyo to seal qualification.
Coach Ntombifuthi Khumalo praised her players despite the defeat.
“I must applaud our girls—they fought a good fight, but unfortunately the results didn’t go our way,” she said.
Kenya will join Morocco, Ghana, Nigeria and Zambia as Africa’s representatives at the 2026 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup.
