KZN Premier unveils water project to benefit over 3 500 households

Thamsanqa Ntuli has called on communities across KwaZulu-Natal to embrace prayer, unity and moral regeneration as key tools in rebuilding society and tackling social challenges facing the province.

The Premier made the remarks during the Annual KZN Provincial Prayer held at the Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi Sports Ground on Friday, where thousands of congregants, faith leaders and community members gathered in a spirit of reflection and hope.

Addressing the gathering, Ntuli said faith-based organisations continue to play a critical role in strengthening communities, guiding young people and supporting vulnerable families amid growing concerns around crime, gender-based violence, substance abuse and poverty.

He emphasised the importance of restoring values such as dignity, respect and Ubuntu, while encouraging communities to work together to build a safer and more united KwaZulu-Natal.

Meanwhile, the Premier also unveiled the Vimbukhalo Water Supply Project in the uKhahlamba Local Municipality under the uThukela District Municipality, a major infrastructure development expected to benefit more than 3 500 households.

The project includes the completion of the Vimbukhalo Reticulation 03 and 04 systems aimed at improving access to clean and reliable water in Wards 2 and 14.

Ntuli described the project as a major step toward restoring dignity and improving the quality of life for residents who have struggled with water shortages for years.

He added that access to reliable water supply remains essential for health, economic development and community wellbeing, while also highlighting the employment opportunities created during the implementation of the project.
