Police in the Western Cape have arrested two men in separate drug-related operations in Parow and Goodwood, seizing more than 27,000 Mandrax tablets.
The largest seizure occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, 9 September 2026, when police followed up on intelligence about drugs at a residence in Da Gama Street, Parow.
Members arrived at the property at about 1:30am and conducted a thorough search. The operation resulted in the discovery of 27,270 Mandrax tablets.
A 39-year-old Zimbabwean national was arrested and detained at Parow Police Station on a charge of possession of drugs.
He is expected to appear in the Parow Magistrate’s Court once he has been formally charged.
In a separate operation on Tuesday night, 8 September, police arrested another man during a stop-and-search operation in Cook Street, Goodwood.
The 28-year-old suspect was searched at about 11:30pm, resulting in police finding 18½ Mandrax tablets in his pockets.
He was arrested for possession of drugs and detained at Goodwood Police Station.
The suspect is expected to appear in the Goodwood Magistrate’s Court once he has been charged.
Police have commended the ongoing efforts of their members to disrupt the illegal drug trade and remove drugs from communities across the Western Cape.
