Controversial media personality Ngizwe Mchunu has rejected allegations that he burned down his own home for publicity, describing the claims as “absurd” and hurtful.
Speaking to Durban Network Media & Podcast, Mchunu said he was traumatised after three men allegedly stormed his property and set parts of the house on fire. He denied social media speculation suggesting the incident was staged, saying no reasonable person would deliberately destroy their own home and put their family through such trauma.
Mchunu said the fire had a devastating impact on his children, whose schoolbooks, assignments and learning materials were destroyed in the blaze.
He also claimed he has many enemies, including Julius Malema and members of the LGBTQ+ community, alleging that some people appeared to celebrate his suffering online.
Actor and anti-illegal immigration activist Nkosinathi Ndabandaba alleged that the attack was intentional, claiming the suspects arrived at the property looking for Mchunu before the house was allegedly set alight.
