The Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) has established its Eastern Cape Provincial Results Operations Centre in KuGompo City as preparations intensify for the 4 November 2026 Local Government Elections.
The centre, located at the East London International Convention Centre, will serve as a hub for monitoring the electoral process, capturing voting results and overseeing the release of results from voting stations across the province.
The IEC has also established provincial results operation centres in all nine provinces, supported by its National Results Operations Centre at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand, Gauteng.
The national centre was officially launched on 28 October and will coordinate the capturing and release of results from more than 23,000 voting stations across the country.
The provincial centres are located at:
Eastern Cape: East London International Convention Centre, KuGompo City.
Free State: 24 Ben Jones Street, Hamilton, Bloemfontein.
Gauteng: Alberton Civic Centre, Johannesburg.
KwaZulu-Natal: Durban International Convention Centre.
Limpopo: Protea Hotel Polokwane Ranch Resort.
Mpumalanga: ANEW Hotel Sports and Conferencing, White River.
Northern Cape: The Light House, 40 Boshoff Road, Ernestville, Kimberley.
North West: 50 First Street, Industrial Site, Mahikeng.
Western Cape: Century City Convention Centre, Cape Town.
The centres will provide facilities for political parties, independent candidates, accredited observers and the media to monitor the electoral process and promote transparency in the counting and announcement of results.
The IEC has declared its results system fit for purpose following independent testing and auditing, with identified issues reportedly addressed.
South Africans will head to the polls on Wednesday, 4 November, while special voting will take place on 2 and 3 November.
