Police in Tsomo have recovered five cattle valued at R100,000 and arrested a 28-year-old farm employee in connection with the alleged theft.
The recovery followed a tip-off received by the Acting Bholo SAPS Station Commander, who led a Visible Policing team to Ntsito Administrative Area.
Eastern Cape police spokesperson Captain Majola Nkohli said the case was opened on Wednesday, 14 October 2026, after a farmer in Bholo reported that five cattle had been stolen from his farm.
Seven days later, police received information about the whereabouts of the missing livestock. The suspect allegedly sold the cattle at two homesteads in the Ntsito area.
Officers recovered all five animals, which were identified through their branding marks and returned to their rightful owner.
Nkohli said the suspect had been arrested and was expected to appear in court on Friday, 23 October 2026, on a charge of contravening the Stock Theft Act 57 of 1959.
Police have urged communities to report stock theft and provide information that could help officers recover stolen livestock and bring those responsible to justice.
