A 49-year-old man accused of involvement in the theft and possession of illicit drugs worth more than R260 million from a Hawks office has been granted bail.
Lucas Legabe appeared in the Port Shepstone Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 14 September 2026, for judgment in his bail application.
Legabe faces charges of theft, housebreaking and dealing in, alternatively possession of, illicit drugs linked to the drug consignment that was allegedly stolen from the Hawks office.
The court granted him R50,000 bail, subject to strict conditions.
As part of his bail conditions, Legabe must report to Brooklyn SAPS every Monday between 06:00 and 18:00. He has also been ordered to surrender all travel documents to the investigating officer.
The matter has been postponed to 1 December 2026.
