The trial of alleged underworld figure Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala and his four co-accused has been postponed to Thursday in the Johannesburg High Court after the defence introduced new evidence.
Matlala, his wife Tsakani Matlala, Tiego Floyd Mabusela, Musa Kekana and Nthabiseng Nzama face a combined 25 charges, including attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, money laundering and fraud.
The charges relate to alleged assassination attempts targeting Tebogo Thobejane, Joe “Ferrari” Sibanyoni and music producer Seunkie “DJ Vetteys” Mokubung.
The new evidence concerns the location of police vehicles on the day Kekana was arrested. The State requested time to assess the evidence and determine whether an additional witness is required.
The five accused have pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The matter will resume on Thursday.
