Three people have died and three others sustained serious injuries following a head-on collision between a Corsa and a Ford Ranger bakkie in KuGompo City this afternoon.
The crash occurred between Amalinda and Hemingways Mall when one of the vehicles allegedly lost control while travelling in the opposite direction, crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with the other vehicle.
The injured passengers were rushed to various hospitals in KuGompo City for medical treatment.
Eastern Cape MEC for Transport Xolile Nqatha expressed his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
Nqatha also urged motorists to exercise caution on the roads, obey traffic rules and reduce their speed to help prevent further loss of life.
