A 32-year-old man is expected to appear before the Tsolo Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 13 August 2026, following the alleged murder of his 36-year-old girlfriend in Tsolo.
The woman, from Bhelesi locality in Mayaluleni Administrative Area, was allegedly killed by her boyfriend on Tuesday, 11 August, at about 3.15pm in Phumla Mqeshwa locality.
Tsolo police were alerted to the murder and found the victim with multiple wounds to her upper and lower body.
According to police, preliminary investigations led officers to the suspect, who was allegedly attempting to flee the area. He was cornered and arrested.
Investigations are at an advanced stage, with police conducting a lawful confession and pointing-out on Wednesday, 12 August. Murder weapons have also been recovered and are expected to form part of the evidence presented in court.
The suspect is facing a charge of murder.
Acting OR Tambo District Commissioner Brigadier Vukile Ntuli expressed shock at the killing and conveyed his condolences to the victim’s family and friends.
“It is such an unfortunate situation when women are to be celebrated but end up dying in the hands of those who promised to love and protect them,” Ntuli said.
Ntuli urged investigators to leave no stone unturned in establishing the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death and ensuring that justice is served.
